NETWORK SPEED TESTER

Privacy and data use

How browser-local results, temporary synthetic test data and Cloudflare network requests are handled by Network Speed Tester.

Results stay in your browser

Completed results are stored in local browser storage, with up to twelve recent records retained. Exporting downloads a JSON file to your device. Clearing history removes the application’s saved result history from that browser. The site has no remote result-reporting account or cohort ingestion service.

Requests needed to run a test

Loading the website and running a test sends requests to Cloudflare infrastructure. That infrastructure processes connection information such as IP address and request details. Admission uses a derived connection-identity hash for limits; it is not a user-account identity. Signed active-lease tokens are held in browser memory rather than saved in result history.

Temporary test data

Uploads and backup checks use synthetic data. Temporary backup chunks are removed on session Stop or expiry handling. Session and admission records support quotas and retries. Whole-session byte reservations are conservative and are not an exact billing record. Infrastructure security processing is governed by Cloudflare’s own practices.

Browser capabilities

The browser-only check can observe scheduling delay, Long Tasks where supported and coarse browser-provided hints. Camera, microphone and geolocation access are disabled by the site’s permissions policy. Synthetic media does not require recording you. The homepage loads Google AdSense for advertising. Measurements open in a separate /test/ document without advertising scripts. This prevents homepage ad requests from running within the measurement document; other tabs and applications can still affect your connection.

Advertising and privacy choices

Google AdSense Auto ads is enabled on the homepage and individual network guides using publisher ca-pub-3465167616924041. Google controls approval, available placements and ad delivery through the publisher account. Google and participating vendors may process IP addresses, device information and cookies for advertising, personalisation, fraud prevention and reporting. Published consent and opt-out messages are delivered through Google Privacy & messaging; the site does not fabricate consent or override choices. Where a privacy message is displayed, use its controls to manage your choices. Account-side consent configuration and worldwide regulatory coverage have not yet been independently verified.

Shared browser storage

Guide pages and the tester use the same website origin. Third-party scripts on these pages can access same-origin browser storage; browser-local history is not an isolation boundary from advertising code. The application does not send diagnostic exports or network labels as ad-targeting parameters. Do not put private network labels or diagnostic exports into advertising settings or page addresses.

Your controls and third-party context

You can stop a test, clear stored history or remove this site’s browser storage. Exported files are under your control and are not deleted by clearing the website history. Optional external reachability checks require an explicit challenge; they are not a general network scanner. Read Cloudflare’s privacy information for infrastructure processing.
